There are hundreds of the children living on the streets and they can often be found roaming around begging money, sleeping under bridges and in bus station even during shivering cold nights in Delhi and NCR. They are frequently in trouble with the local person who do not want them around because they are consiolesed as a bed impact on their business

Some of the children try to earn money by picking rags or bottle and even by selling various cheap product at crossing with great risk of accident, working upto 12 to 13 hours a day, but ending up with only a few rupees in their pockets at the cost of valuable education. Some children are forced to start begging on the streets as soon as they are old enough to work. Their looks bring in a small amount of money, but as they get older they find it more difficult to beg as they lose their charm and are more likely to be classed as a threat to people rather than a child in need

We felt the best way we could help them would be by starting a charity organization to provide shelter, education and food for these children. Therefore the ANMOL CHHAYA FOUNDATION was established 30th April, 2002 with the main objective of improving the quality of life of needy children and underprivileged girl child. Considering the fact that female infanticide is still prevalent in various parts of India the endeavor of the society has been to make the girl child self-reliant by providing them with basic education, remedial teaching where required and subsequently giving them an opportunity for employment generation

The School Division of the NGO primarily looking after the work of sponsoring needy and meritorious children but coming from poor background in school in various parts of India. In this programme not only providing tuition fees but also uniforms, stationary. After school coaching, midday meals are also given to enable the students to have a better quality of life and could devote time for education. In various school meritorious children are giving free ship on the recommendation of the Principals of the School. For this entire exercise, the Society is deeply indebted to the Principals of a large number of schools of India which provide assistance.

We would also like to provide teachers to the non-formal school that we run in the slums and help to provide resources for the lessons.
